This privacy policy is intended to inform you about Bazaarvoice, Inc.'s ("Bazaarvoice", "we", "us", or "our") collection, use, and disclosure of information that we receive through the software and advertising services ("Services") that we provide on third party websites of our Clients (the "Bazaarvoice Network"), through our corporate website, www.bazaarvoice.com ("Website"), and through the business applications offered on the Website ("BizApps"). We collect information from visitors to the Bazaarvoice Network, the users of the BizApps, and visitors to the Website (collectively "Consumers").

Effective July 25, 2013, Longboard Media is officially BV Media. All data collection, use and disclosure practices that were covered under Longboard Media’s privacy policy is now covered by this policy.

Bazaarvoice, Inc. has been awarded TRUSTe's Privacy Seal signifying that this privacy policy and practices have been reviewed by TRUSTe for compliance with TRUSTe’s Web Privacy, TRUSTed Data and TRUSTed Cloud program requirements including transparency, accountability and choice regarding the collection and use of your personal information. TRUSTe's mission, as an independent third party, is to accelerate online trust among consumers and organizations globally through its leading privacy trustmark and innovative trust solutions.

TRUSTe’s certifications cover the collection and use of information Bazaarvoice receives through BizApps, the Website, www.bazaarvoice.com, and the Bazaarvoice Network. TRUSTe’s certifications do not cover information that may be collected from mobile devices.

Information We Collect Through the Bazaarvoice Network  

Information You Submit  

User Generated Content. As part of our Services to our Clients, we provide Consumers the ability submit reviews, comment on or rate goods, products and services on websites within the Bazaarvoice Network (collectively, “User Generated Content”). You should be aware that any information you provide in the area that is intended to collect such User Generated Content will be published on a publicly facing website and will be read, collected, and used by Bazaarvoice, its subsidiaries, vendors and Clients. Therefore, please do not include any information within these areas that you do not want to share with the general public, including personally identifiable information, such as your name, email address or financial information. Bazaarvoice uses User Generated Content for providing the Services to our Clients, marketing research, new product development, to personalize or improve our Services, to detect fraudulent activities and for analytical purposes. 

Consumer Account Info. In order to submit User Generated Content, you will have to create an account with the Bazaarvoice Client whose products, services or goods you are reviewing or rating. During the course of creating an account, you may be asked to submit information, such as but not limited to, your name, email address, mailing address or phone number, and other data (collectively, "Consumer Account Info"). The Consumer Account Info may be collected by both Bazaarvoice and the applicable Bazaarvoice Client. Bazaarvoice uses Consumer Account Info to assist with the creation of an account, to detect fraud and inauthentic content, provide you the ability to review, comment on or rate products, or otherwise create content across Client websites on the Bazaarvoice Network.   

How Bazaarvoice's Clients Use User Generated Content and Consumer Account Info. To further understand how the Bazaarvoice Client to whom you have submitted User Generated Content and Consumer Account Info will use such data, please consult the terms and conditions on that Client's website (e.g. the privacy policy). 

 Cookies and Other Technologies  

We use cookies, web beacons and other technologies to collect information from Consumers on the Bazaarvoice Network. Our technologies may collect the IP address of your computer, the pages you visit within the Bazaarvoice Network, the date and time of your visit, browser type and version and other click-stream data (collectively "Analytics and Tracking Data"). We use the Analytics and Tracking Data to operate the Services, enable the submission of User Generated Content, to enable anonymous analytics and measurement reporting, and to display online advertisements to you and other users.

Types of Technologies on the Bazaarvoice Network

Web Beacons. Web beacons are small, graphic images on web pages or web-based documents or in email messages. We use web beacons in order to personalize your experience on the Bazaarvoice Network, determine the usefulness of the information our Services provide and to analyze general user traffic patterns.

Correcting, Updating or Deleting Your Information  

If you would like to access, correct, amend, or delete Consumer Account Info or User Generated Content submitted through a Client, please contact that Client directly. If our Client requests us to update or remove your information from our systems, we will respond to their request within thirty (30) days. If you would like to access, correct, amend or delete any of your personally identifiable information held by Bazaarvoice, please contact us using one of the methods listed in this policy.

 

Information We Collect Through the Website

Information You Submit

There are various areas on the Website where you have the opportunity to provide us with information. For example, you may submit your name, email address, or phone number if you contact us or request information about Bazaarvoice or our Services. We will use the information we collect on the Website to respond to your inquiries, provide you with the requested service or information, send you marketing communications, or improve the Website.

If you choose to use our referral service to tell a friend about our site, we will ask you for your friend’s email address. We will automatically send your friend a one-time email inviting him or her to visit the site. We do not store this information for future purposes.

 What are Cookies?

To serve online advertising.     *As of the last date this policy was updated, the following Bazaarvoice partners set third party cookies to serve online advertising: Doubleclick and Rocketfuel (“Ad Partners”).   If cookies are disabled or blocked then users may still see ads on sites that choose to serve ads, however, such ads will not be tailored to the user based on the user’s browsing history. Disclosure of Information 

We will share your personal information with third parties only in the ways that are described in this privacy policy. We do not sell your name, phone number, email or mail address to third parties.

Consumer Account Info may be made available to our Clients in certain circumstances. For example; if a you submit a question about a product to a website on the Bazaarvoice Network, the question and your email address will be shared with the company that controls the website that the question was submitted to, the product manufacturer, or retailer to help answer the question.

We disclose Combined Data, and information derived from Combined Data, to our Clients in order for them to display advertisements and personalized content to Consumers.

We disclose User Generated Content, Consumer Account Info and Combined Data to third-party service providers (e.g., email service providers, data storage and processing facilities) in order for those service providers to perform business functions for us or on our behalf. These companies are authorized to use your personal information only as necessary to provide these services to us.

We disclose User Generated Content, Consumer Account Info and Combined Data to our partners for use in their products and services.  For example, we provide reviews about retailers to Google for use in Google's products and services such as AdWords.

We will also disclose any information we collect, use or receive: if required or permitted by law, such as to comply with a subpoena, or similar legal process; and, when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.

Finally, any information in our possession or control will be disclosed in connection with any merger, acquisition, debt financing, sale of company assets, or other business transaction in which data could be transferred to third parties as one of our business assets.

 

Data Retention

We retain all personal information collected by or provided to us through the Bazaarvoice Network, the Website and the BizApps until the information is no longer necessary to: provide you with services; respond to your requests; authenticate your identity across the Bazaarvoice Network (e.g. for use with social authentication); monitor for fraudulent activity; and, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

Consumer Data is not stored in our cookies, and is retained on our servers in its original form for up to eighteen months before it is aggregated or deleted.

 

Data Security 

We use security measures, including Secure Socket Layer encryption (SSL), that are reasonably designed to protect the information we collect from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.
