Brant Barton Dell IdeaStorm Goes Full Circle

May 1st, 2007 by Brant Barton Co-Founder and Chief Innovation Officer

When Dell launched their IdeaStorm site several months ago (a move that we at Bazaarvoice applauded!), one customer post quickly rose to the top of the rankings and still holds the #1 spot.  Other IdeaStorm users quickly piled on, supporting the call for a pre-installed Linux option on new Dell machines.  Well it seems that the feedback made it to the right people at Dell, because according to Boing Boing, Dell will begin offering pre-installed Ubuntu Linux.  What a great example of a company (a $57 billion global enterprise, no less) actually listening and taking action on the voice of its customers!  GO DELL!

Brant Barton Introducing Caitlin Oppermann, Customer of Tomorrow

March 9th, 2007 by Brant Barton Co-Founder and Chief Innovation Officer

Brand advertisers, direct marketers, multi-channel retailers, clients and prospects of Bazaarvoice, there's somebody you need to meet – Caitlin Oppermann.

I read about Caitlin just this afternoon as I was reading Boing Boing, my favorite blog.  Sorry Sam!  Xeni Jardin, one of BB's editors, links to a compelling story entitled "Say Everything" at New York Magazine.  I highly recommend you read the story, but the main gist is that the proverbial "younger generation" is shamelessly comfortable with revealing the details of their personal lives to the rest of the world in the form of TypePad posts, Flickr photos, YouTube videos, and the agency of a thousand and one (and growing everyday) new social networking and community tools and websites.  The article provides a glimpse into the lives of several of the young people driving this trend, some of which have been burned by the limelight but others that can't seem to get enough of it.

Brant Barton Customer Reviews – A New Art Form?

January 8th, 2007 by Brant Barton Co-Founder and Chief Innovation Officer

I read last night on Boing Boing, my favorite blog, that one of Amazon.com's most prolific customer reviewers, Kevin Killian, is publishing a selection of his best reviews in book form.  The publisher's description is certainly intriguing:

Selections from the 1,000+ reviews that Killian has written for books, movies, and everyday products on Amazon.com. Subversive and delightful modifiations to a pervasive online art form. Includes an author's introduction and an editor's introduction.

I did a people search on Amazon.com and found Kevin's profile.  As of today, Kevin is Top 500 Reviewer on Amazon.com with over 1500 reviews, a reviewer rank of 119, and over 6,000 helpful votes from other Amazon.com users.  Wow!
