Bazaarvoice Celebrates 10-Year Anniversary with New Headquarters

New company headquarters in Austin positions Bazaarvoice for continued growth and builds on longstanding ties with local community

AUSTIN, Texas, February 3, 2016 — Bazaarvoice, the world’s largest network of active shoppers and a bellwether in the Austin technology community, today announced its new company headquarters in the Quarry Oaks business park in North Austin. The new 137,615-square-foot building will be home to Bazaarvoice’s 600 Austin employees and was designed with Bazaarvoice’s growth strategy in mind, allowing ample room for future expansion. The building was designed with the company’s values and culture in mind, and includes elements showcasing Bazaarvoice’s commitment to clients and its 10-year history in Austin.

“As Bazaarvoice moves into its 11th year as a company, it is important that we have a headquarters that not only reflects the company’s storied past and our bright future, but also incorporates the local community we have been tied to for the last decade. This building hits the mark on all accounts,” said Gene Austin, CEO of Bazaarvoice. “We had fantastic support with making decisions that impacted the design of the building from our external partners – all of whom are local companies renowned in their particular area – as well as from our Bazaarvoice employees. The result is an impressive headquarters building that our employees can feel proud to work in every day.”

Built from the ground up with input from Bazaarvoice’s employees, the new headquarters echoes the company’s focus on using consumer-generated content to create business solutions. The creation and ideation of the building is structured around understanding how Bazaarvoice’s employees work and live, and incorporating that feedback into the design. The building’s glass-lined central staircase epitomizes the employee focus, as it is not only an architectural feature that creates a feeling of openness, but also encourages collaboration and creates a stronger sense of community throughout the space. It was truly a local production, involving partners throughout the local Texas building community.

Austin-based Riverside Resources, one of the region’s most prolific developers, is responsible for the development of the new Bazaarvoice headquarters. The Class A+ structure features a myriad of unique and special architectural touches, including outdoor decks, four-side cut lueder limestone, curtainwall glass, accented steel beams, exposed interior concrete, and an overall feel of dynamic personality with modern expanse. “Bazaarvoice is focused on creating an energetic environment to encourage collaboration and communication. Quarry Oaks III was strategically designed to help Bazaarvoice continue providing customers with the superior products at the highest level of service,” said Win Smith of Riverside Resources.

In addition to working with Riverside Resources, CBRE’s Workplace Strategy team partnered with Bazaarvoice to create a space that redefines how the company works. The result is a variety of work settings, including both collaborative and private spaces with huddle rooms, sit/stand desks and offices, and focus rooms. “We engaged with Bazaarvoice to uncover what their employees need to work effectively, and aligned those insights to what best defined the culture of Bazaarvoice. This gave employees a voice in developing the new space, and enabled the Bazaarvoice executive team to challenge traditional conventions to create a more flexible and collaborative work environment,” said Lenny Beaudoin, Senior Managing Director, Workplace Strategy, CBRE.

HKS, Inc., responsible for designing the building’s shell, Lauckgroup, who handled all interior design, and Harvey-Cleary, who served as the general contractor for entire project were also integral partners in the building’s design and completion. CBRE also represented Bazaarvoice in the site search and lease negotiations.

The new office also features a Whole Foods Market Café for company employees. This is one of only a handful of Whole Foods Market express locations throughout the city, and is helping to create a stronger sense of community amongst Bazaarvoice’s employees.

Building facts:

  • The construction of the building required 31,000 stones, 43,924,000 pounds of concrete, and 10,312 sheets of drywall to complete.
  • The building contains 150 miles of electrical wiring, which is roughly equal to the distance between Austin and Houston.
  • It took 257,862 man hours to complete building construction.
  • Though there were 34 rain delay days throughout the course of the 12-month build, there was no delay in move-in.
