Bazaarvoice CEO Brett Hurt Named Austin's Best CEO of 2012
AUSTIN, Texas – Sept. 28, 2012 – Bazaarvoice (NASDAQ: BV) today announced that the Austin Business Journal has ranked Brett Hurt as Austin's Best CEO of 2012 in the large company category. The publication recognized Hurt for Bazaarvoice's major impact on the Austin economy and community, as well as the company's unique workplace culture. Hurt joins a prestigious list of past winners, which includes Whole Foods Co-CEOs John Mackey and Walter Robb, as well as HomeAway Inc. CEO Brian Sharples.
“The leaders I most admire are the ones who bring out the best in people to drive the performance of the company,” said Hurt. “Bazaarvoice is more committed than ever to our mission of changing the world one authentic conversation at a time, and our path forward is to remain persistent, driven, humble and aligned around our cause. This recognition is a tremendous honor, and one I'd like to share with our employees and clients around the world. Together, we are writing the new textbook on marketing and I am honored and inspired every day to work with such passionate, innovative people."
Founded by Hurt in 2005, Bazaarvoice currently serves nearly 2,000 clients globally from its Austin headquarters and eight offices around the globe. The company, which went public on NASDAQ earlier this year, brings the voice of customers to the center of business strategy, transforming business strategy for the world's largest and most innovative brands including 259 of the Internet Retailer 500 list of the world’s largest retailers, 112 of the Fortune 500, and 34 of the Fortune 100 brands.
At every stage of Bazaarvoice's growth, Hurt has been dedicated to creating a corporate culture that sets the company apart for employees, clients and the greater community. Bazaarvoice strives to hire the most passionate and talented people, and has been as innovative in developing its culture as it has its products. The company is consistently named one of the best places to work in Austin, and now London, and continually invests in the communities in which it operates around the world through the Bazaarvoice Foundation and employees' financial contributions and volunteer hours.
In addition to this most recent honor, Hurt has received Austin Entrepreneurs Foundation's Community Leadership Award and was named Entrepreneur of the Year for Austin in 2009.
