Bazaarvoice Further Extends Market Leadership with Key Executive Appointments

Global SaaS leader welcomes veteran enterprise software and cloud computing executives from Rackspace and BMC Software to drive continued expansion and growth.

Bazaarvoice (NASDAQ: BV) today announced two new executive appointments as the company rapidly expands its high-growth, global business. Kelly Connery has joined the company as general manager (GM), Brands North America, and Matthew Schatz has joined as GM, Retail and Emerging Markets. Both are accomplished executives with deep experience in global technology sales, enterprise software and cloud computing. They join European GM Mark Riggs to round out the organization’s global GM structure, and all report to Heather Brunner, chief operating officer.

“Our GMs are fantastic executives who are bold, fast and relentless about finding the best ways to drive client and marketplace value," said Brett Hurt, founder and chief executive officer of Bazaarvoice. "Matt and Kelly are phenomenal leaders and seasoned, savvy enterprise executives who know how to build high-growth businesses and high-performing teams. Together, these executives represent the best for our brand, our business and our clients."

"Bazaarvoice allows brands to focus on customers in a way that has never been possible before," said Connery. "Consumer conversations and social data are transforming business, and Bazaarvoice and its clients are on the leading edge of this change."

Throughout his career, Connery has been instrumental in building successful, high-growth companies and high-performing teams. In his role as GM of Brands North America, Connery will drive the marketplace vision and strategic sales and service for customer-centricity. His leadership enables aggressive sales growth and delivers continued increases in lifetime value to Bazaarvoice's clients across manufacturing, CPG, high tech and financial services.

He joins Bazaarvoice from BMC Software where he led the $300 million Enterprise Systems Management Business for the Americas. Connery began his career at customer relationship management pioneer Clarify in 1999, serving in sales leadership through Clarify's initial public offering (IPO) and subsequent acquisition by Nortel Network. He also has held executive sales and services roles eGlue Business technology (sold to Nice Systems) and Cramer Systems.

"Consumers around the world are talking to brands and each other every day, and the social data these conversations reveal provides deep insight into consumers in every corner of the world," said Schatz. "By transforming social data into actionable intelligence, Bazaarvoice offers an important value proposition for any company, no matter where or in how many countries they operate."

Schatz is a seasoned leader with proven success at driving go-to-market strategies that expand global reach. As GM of Retail and Emerging Markets, Schatz will lead the continued global expansion of Bazaarvoice in Europe, Asia and Latin America. A sales executive and employee No.14 at Rackspace, Schatz helped grow the company to more than $650 million in revenue and IPO. In the U.S., he developed a new division focused on installed-base sales that are now responsible for more than 50 percent of monthly revenue. While at Rackspace, he helped to build Rackspace Europe and Rackspace Hong Kong teams. Schatz most recently founded Mekon Aid International, establishing dormitories and funding school improvements in Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos.
